A lot of trade websites are one page: a photo of a van, a list of services, a phone number. That is better than nothing, but it leaves most of the available work on the table. Here is what a trade site needs, and why.
Google matches searches to pages. When someone searches "consumer unit upgrade Wigan", Google looks for the page that is most clearly about that. A dedicated page will beat a bullet point on a home page nearly every time. More good pages means more searches you can appear for.
Says who you are, what you do and where, within a few seconds. A clear headline, your phone number, your main services and proof that you are trustworthy: reviews, accreditations, photos of real work.
This is the big one. If you do boiler installs, servicing, repairs and landlord certificates, that is four pages. Each one should explain what the job involves, who it is for, what areas you cover and how to book. Write it the way you would explain it to a customer on the phone.
If you cover several towns, each main one gets a page. These need real content about your work in that place, not the same text with the town name swapped. We go into detail in how to rank in nearby towns.
People hire people. A photo of you, how long you have been in the trade, your qualifications and why you do it. Keep it honest and short.
Essential for visual trades such as builders, landscapers, roofers and decorators. Before and after photos with a line about each job.
Your best reviews, with a link to the full set on Google so people can see they are real.
Phone, email, a short form and the areas you cover. But do not make people hunt for this page.
Not sure whether to show your prices? We cover that in should you put prices on your trade website.
You do not need forty pages on day one. Start with the home page, your main services, your main area and a contact page. Then add to it every month. A site that keeps growing is what climbs, which is why we add new pages every month.
